Cool Stuff to Do

Max's and Cooper's are both located in Cherry Grove Beach in North Myrtle Beach SC. Cherry Grove is listed as one of the best beaches in the nation year after year. The beach about 2 blocks from either house. There is plenty to do, there are several restaurants, bars and grocery stores all within walking distance from either house. For kids there is Putt Putt golf, outdoor sports and all of the fun of Myrtle Beach proper only 20 minutes away. If you like to play golf we have listed Jamie's favorites below. Many of our guests rent golf carts to tool around the neighborhood and beach, go shopping out to eat etc. In the summer there are as many golf carts on the roads as there are cars!

The Beach-

Pets are allowed on beach most of the year and in the summer before 9:00 and after 5:00. The parking at the beach is a little tight in season and we recommend walking, it's only 2 blocks and takes just a few minutes. The northern part of Cherry grove beach is called "The Point" and it is spectacular. It's near the inlet for the marsh and  north of the inlet the land is not developed and just beautiful. To get there you need to drive to the beach, turn left and go to the end of the road, you can park on the side streets up there,

The site below lists all of fun to be had in North Myrtle beach. We didn't have enough room for all of it and the chamber of commerce did such a good job our best suggestion is to go to the site and poke around. Aside from the beach, golf, putt putt etc this resource shares activities most people don't know about. We didn't even know about horseback riding, dolphin cruises and jet skis rentals and we have been coming for 5 years! Explore North Myrtle Beach

Myrtle Beach- There are lots of fun things to do down on Myrtle Beach and on the way to Myrtle Beach. Broadway on the Beach is neat they have Ripley's Aquarium and Wonderworks which are both big hits for kids. There are also go cart tracks, a big Ferris wheel and shops and restaurants. We also love Barefoot Landing, they have a House of Blues, tons of restaurants and shops and it is a lot of fun to walk around an shop or just window shop.

Arts and Culture- There is an art museum in Myrtle Beach but by far the best arts experience is Brookgreen Gardens in Murrells Inlet. Brookgreen is the largest sculpture garden in the U.S. and is absolutely a must see if you like art. Here is a link to their site- https://www.brookgreen.org/ We go several times per year and can't say enough great things about Brookgreen. It is about a 1 hour drive south from Cherry Grove.

Golf Cart rentals- Many of our guests rent golf carts for their stay, its a fun way to buzz around Cherry Grove, go to the store, the beach, restaurants etc. In the summer it seems like there are more golf carts than cars on the roads. They all drop off and pick up the carts we recommend Ajax here is their site- Ajax Golf Carts

Golf- I am an avid golfer and would play every day if he could get away with it, someday I will. I have been coming to NMB for 6 yrs now and have played most of the courses on the north end of the grand strand. Here are my favorites with a little about each.

Tidewater- close to the house, fabulous condition, great views of the marsh and Cherry Grove, pricey, it is tough but great.

Glen Dornoch- Great course, good value and is a great track. Its a shot makers course, some holes are tight and you need to hit it to spots, great views on 4 holes.

Farmstead- Best value that I have found, the course and greens are always in great shape, the course is not really that demanding and its just a fun course to play and it's easy on the wallet.

River Hills- This is another great value, the course and greens are normally in good shape, the course is not too demanding and the easy on the wallet.

Thistle- Thistle is one of my new favorites, they have 27 holes and they take great care of them all. Its a typical southern style course with lots of waste areas and water. The greens are crazy and it is a little on the high $ side but I like it.

Barefoot Landing- They have 4 courses and they are all always in excellent shape. It is a top notch golf facility in every way. The price is on the higher side, on par with Tidewater, my favorite course there is the Dye, the Fazio and Love are great as well but I'd stay off the Norman.  If you have not played at Barefoot you should, it's a great experience.

The Cats Courses at Ocean Ridge Plantation- The cats (Tiger's Eye and Leopard's Chase) are some of the best in the area but the last few times I've played the conditions were just so-so. There are 4 courses with varying price points.

Have Fun In Cherry Grove! and please reach out if you find something great we should add to our page!
